Finding a qualified Hypnotherapist
There are many therapists out there, more than willing to take your money; some of them may use hypnosis as part of their treatment. The problem you face is how to choose one whom you can trust.
One measure is whether the therapist is qualified, both in their chosen profession and in the use of clinical hypnosis. All of our full members have first of all to be a licenced health-care professional, and also need to have passed our course in clinical hypnosis, which includes supervised practice sessions and mentored follow-up after the workshop. (Only full members are on the referral list.)
As a further protection, our members also need to make the following declaration to join, and each year thereafter:
I declare that I am a member in good standing with my regulatory college.
If you are looking for a referral to a hypnotherapist, send an e-mail to Referrals@csch-od.ca with two pieces of information:
The area of therapy in which you need a referral, and one or more cities or towns where you would like to receive treatment (Ontario only). You will have better luck specifying the larger locations, of course.
To help you with "areas of therapy", this page has a list from which our members choose. Please pick the closest fit.
